Scarf Series: The Seduction of the Scarf

As a little girl I already knew that there was something special about that simple rectangle of fabric that women have been draping around their bodies for centuries. It may have been those many Summers in Paris as a young girl, watching elegant women pass by as I nibbled on my croissant at the Deux Magots. Or perhaps it was all those years playing dress-up in my mom's closet. Whatever the reason, I knew at a young age that a great scarf could take my outfit from average to elegant in seconds.
 
In this modern era, one of the most chic, timeless and effortless looking accessories a woman (or man) can wear is still a scarf. Long, square, formal or casual, silk, cashmere, wool or cotton, plaid, striped, fringed or sequined, the varieties are endless and so is how to wear them. They are appropriate for almost any occasion, outfit and time of year. But most importantly they can transform the look of your outfit in dozens of ways. 



One of the secrets of stylish French woman is the scarf. For years they have mystified their American counterparts with the endless number of ways they can tie, twist and flip it to create different looking outfits, while wearing the same staple pieces year after year.
